Working together to raise standards

Vision, Mission and Values

Vision

Language is no longer a barrier to social justice, equality and human rights; and true equality of access is achieved in Scotland.

Mission

We will work to strengthen Scotland’s public service interpreting and translation provision by raising standards nationally, re-energising the profession, enabling collaborative working, and investing in training and more qualified interpreters and translators; thereby addressing some of the root causes of inequality and injustice in our society where language can be a barrier.

Values

ValuesCustomer Focus - We will deliver as promised for complete customer satisfaction. Our customers can expect a service that is responsive and consistently of high quality.

Care for the profession – We will put care back into interpreting and translation. Our interpreters and translators can expect an organisation that cares about them and the profession they work in.

Collaborative working – We will work collaboratively with other like-minded organisations to tackle quality and sustainability issues. Our partners can expect a partner who takes actions and decisions for the benefit of the collective.

Code of professional conduct - Our interpreters and translators are recruited, vetted and trained with the utmost care and attention.  Our public services can rely on an interpreting and translation service that facilitates equality of access in an ethical and professional manner.
