Elite Linguists C.I.C.

Working together to raise standards

In partnership with Global Connects, our DPSI Scottish Law preparatory course for 2014-2015 is now enrolling students with courses starting w/c 20 October 2014 in Edinburgh, Glasgow and other areas

What is DPSI?

The Chartered Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) is an Institute of Linguists Educational Trust (IoLET) examination and is increasingly recognised as the benchmark qualification for public service interpreters working in the UK. It provides a nationally consistent standard of professionalism in interpreting in the context of public services which is mapped against the National Occupational Standards for Interpreting produced by CILT, the National Centre for Languages. More information is available on the Chartered Institute of Linguists’ website: http://www.iol.org.uk/qualifications/exams_dpsi.asp

Why do your DPSI with Elite Linguists?

The Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL) does not regulate the provision of DPSI preparatory courses. In essence, course providers are free to choose the way in which they provide a preparatory course as they see fit, hence the structure, format and quality could vary a great deal, making it difficult for students to choose the right course that suit their needs.

Elite Linguists is a social enterprise with the social aim of raising standards of public service interpreting in Scotland; therefore, improving training and CPD opportunities is central to our core business objectives. We have taken a number of years to plan and develop a Learning and Development Programme in which the DPSI preparatory course is a key part.

As you read on, you will see the unique features of our course that makes us stand out from the rest. We take our DPSI course very seriously. It is designed and developed for interpreters by interpreters. The structure, format and delivery of our course are carefully planned and well thought through to take into account of our own work experience as interpreters, as past DPSI students, and as past DPSI examiners. Combining these with teaching and training expertise, it makes our course not only comprehensive and informative, it is jam-packed with useful and practical features that make sense. After all, we are training our next generation of public service interpreters, we take it very seriously indeed!
